Sorry for the blur on the photo but it was my best tail shot. We were dodging whales all morning as we left Monterey

 The California coast is beautiful here, we are about 5 miles offshore this is a long lens.

If you are not familiar with the Beach Boys "California Saga" this is what they are singing about. "Big Sur I've got plans for you"

 Nice enough that the cat came up to enjoy the sites.

 As the evening came we could see we would have flat seas and nice light from the moon we decided to sail all night to Morro Bay.

Seas like this we call free miles.

We were told we could no longer stay at the yacht club in Monterey, if we were going to have to leave at least we were making room for Santa Claus and his Hinkley, if your not familiar with Hinkley's look them up on the net, Santa has a very nice boat.

Anne was worried she was going to miss all the festive Christmas things at home, but everywhere we have gone we have events and lights, look at how dressed up the kids are at the yacht club waiting for Santa.  

 The fish shaped lights on the boat won the boat parade, it is owned by an ichthyologist.

 Forgot to tell you about the pod of Orcas yesterday, but today it didn't stop dolphins everywhere as we arrived at Monterey. Seals and huge jelly fish everywhere.

Whales were crossing our path for a few hours of the four hour trip across the bay from Santa Cruz to Monterey. This picture is three that passed behind us, you can just see the tail splashing from the one behind the front one.

The cat was a little seasick today but was happy to get out of the boat and check out Santa Cruz Harbor

Spend the day today doing jobs that should have been done before we left. Like hanging the dingy properly. Came out pretty well. Cleaned up a few other things and finished mounting somethings in the boat. Next stop Santa Cruz.
