Anne and I were on a mission, as there are many Missions in California, this was our mission. A visit to the IRS, West Marine, Downwind Marine, Union Bank, and Ralph's. Total time less than 12 hrs, on 2 trains, 2 buses going, 2 trains, 3 buses coming back, oh yes a cab going. And we spent less than 1/2 boat unit on stuff. We did pick up a cashiers check for the boat paint job, that is kinda painful. Multiple boat units.
Speaking of painful, the bus ride back was really bad, not only was it a rather under maintained bus but we were in the back with a really bad odor from the rest room. Anne just reminded me that she was rather nervous on the ride up as it started with the bus driver making the sign of the cross, pictures of Our Lady of Guadalupe all around, a kiss to his hand and pointing to heaven, as if we were going to need divine intervention to get to our destination.

Some of you might be familiar with my other blog http://learnfrenchavecmoi.blogspot.com
Well today we have a little" Learn Spanish Con Yo"
Friday we went  traveling, a little sight seeing trip. We found this great town up north, and like so many of the Mexican towns it starts with San, some start with Santa, one being masculine the other feminine. It means saint. Anyway, we found this little town, kinda of a big city actually named after Saint Juan Diego. It is really a mecca for expats. Filled with Americans English seems to be a second language there, almost everyone speaks it.
Funny with all my years in Catholic school I don't remember any stories about Juan Diego. Well here it is.
St. Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin[1] (1474–1548) is the first Roman Catholic indigenous American saint.[2] He is said to have been granted an apparition of the Virgin Mary on four separate occasions in December 1531 at the hill of Tepeyac, then outside but now well within metropolitan Mexico City. The Basilica of Guadalupe located at the foot of the hill of Tepeyac claims to possess Juan Diego's mantle or cloak (known as a tilma) on which an image of the Virgin is said to have been impressed by a miracle as a pledge of the authenticity of the apparitions. These apparitions and the imparting of the miraculous image (together known as the Guadalupe event, in Spanish "el acontecimiento Guadalupano") are the basis of the cult of Our Lady of Guadalupe which is ubiquitous in Mexico, prevalent throughout the Spanish-speaking Americas, and increasingly widespread beyond.[3] As a result, the Basilica of Guadalupe is now the world's major centre of pilgrimage for Roman Catholics, receiving 22 million visitors in 2010, the vast bulk of whom were pilgrims.[4] Juan Diego was beatified in 1990, and canonized in 2002.
Ok I get it he is new. I of course know about " Our Lady of Guadalupe".
I guess Mexico gave him sainthood years earlier.
