Heading North

We left Turtle Bay and as I like to do went on the lee side of Cedros Island. It is what I call a free day. Anne had a lot of fun sailing the boat. We had great winds from a good direction and had the boat sailing fast all day. Anne had the boat doing 8.5 kts with 10kts of wind. The most wind we saw was 30 apparent which is what turned us around and we went back to the anchorage at Cedros. What a nice place, seals, dolphins, pelicans, a great place to stop and rest. The boat was doing 9kts with the staysail and two reefs, should have put in three but didn't think the winds would be that high. Expecting a weather change that didn't come till later last night.
It's now 4 A.M. and we are leaving with flat water and expecting some wind out of the east.
Sailing with our new friends that we met in Los Cabos. Scintilla is a CT 49, they motor a knot and a half fast than us but we seem to be able to catch them when ever the wind comes up and we start sailing. Another boat has been with us but they seem a lot slower, I think we might not see them after today till we get to Ensenada.

Waiting in Turtle Bay

Still waiting in Turtle Bay for better weather to head north. In town you keep thinking you are going to find this hidden jem, someone that makes really good food, something that is a treat. We checked with people in town to find out what the really good palce to eat was. They told us the hotel. Well we had been there and it wasn't looking good. I had ordered some of the tamales and we had to come back and get them in twenty minutes. We wanted to try somewhere else in the mean time. They pointed us towards another place, it was really clean for Turtle Bay and actually seemed nice. We thought we might have found something worth going to. Well no joy. It was really just ok. Not some place we would even go back to.
So I go to get the tamales and they don't have change for 200 pesos, that's like a twenty, and the bill was 75. So I go to the gas station across the street they actually almost get me the right change, so they give it too me for 70 pesos, since they have NO change.
I get the tamales home and have them for dinner. I couldn't believe this but they had used little ribs with the bones still in them, and olives with the pits. Very strange, nice flavor but really weird to eat a tamale with all that extra work.

surfing

Surf is too big here at Asuncion Bay, it is too hard to get the dingy in, so we are going to head to Turtle Bay early in the morning.

So Far so good

We left Cabo San Lucas for the dreaded trip north on Monday the twenty ninth. It has been mostly flat glass like water.
This kind oof gets you thinking we could just keep going as fast as we can to take advantage of the easy trip, but it looked like we had some weather that was going to stop us before we arrived in Ensenada. This made us decide to take our time south of Turtle bay as this is the last place that actually has a town you can buy things. Asuncion, will be our stop today. All going well, it won't be too bad a trip from here. Sailing it's better to be lucky than good. I guess that is true of most things.

Heading to Bahia Santa Maria

As we would like we are going slow. Went into Mag Bay last night and will be going up to a little spot we are told we can get some fuel. Then we will head back out to the outer bay on the North side. It was really nice coming in after dark last night. Easy to anchor, the sliver of a moon gave us enough light to see the shore. We ran across millions of what looks like baby lobsters floating on the surface, pictures to follow as we caught a few while we went through them for an hour or so. We woke up to a very foggy day but it has cleared and we will head up to the anchorage with fuel soon.

Dolphin show

Flat water and the Dolphins were swimming with us, 7 plying on the bow.
