Cabo San Jose is a nice little town that has been fixed up with nice hotels, restaurants, and art galleries.
Anne's favorite is this place. The street style tacos are great. This is in a little town across the highway from San Jose del Cabo. Here is the link to reviews of this place http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g152516-d1595059-r201349567-Guacamaya_s-San_Jose_del_Cabo_Los_Cabos_Baja_California.html#REVIEWS
Another Learn Spanish conmigo. Well I needed an inner tube to make a mast boot for the boat. I asked one of the workers at the marina how to say inner tube in Spanish, he told me to say tubo or camara. Anne tried Tubo with the Michellin shop, she was not understanding as tubo also means a hose. I stepped in and said camara, this seemed to work. I told my sister this and she said yes it is actually camara aire. I told this to Anne and she now understood as it is the same in French, it translates to Air Room or better English "Chamber" French for room.

getting ready to go north
We had a last chance to talk to Belgium before we got out of cell range for a couple of weeks so Anne tried to take care of some business. It didn't go well and took a long time. Next the reefing lines were not quite right so I worked on that. After getting underway I noticed the alternator didn't seem to be working. I had Anne sail the boat while I checked out the engine. Just a wire the mechanic didn't put back. Anway as we get out towards the point it didn't seem like it was a good time to make the trip fun, so feeling a little stressed from the morning we decided we would wait till tomorrow. If you are at all interested in weather predictions, take a look at the grib files for today, we were getting over 20kts from the north.

Well the engine is back together, it's running a lot better but.......
If I was to try and explain what the problem sounds like I would say it sounds like it is Dieseling which on a diesel engine is a good thing but this one is making a noise at the wrong time, like it is firing on the exhaust stroke. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Even when you are retired you need to take a day off once in a while. So today we spent the day at the beach club Cabo San Jose
We were told this place is always empty, not true, we had to go down by the beach to find these chairs. The chairs at the pool were full. Some one told us Sundays were like this.

Update on story.
Yes gang I think I have had this problem for a while and these yanmar engines just run and run. Finally it said, you know maybe I need a little help. Larry Davidman, I said that once when crossing the atlantic, said 5 days to Cabo Verde to get engine parts. Gary E McGaughey, they don't have the gauges for a yanmar here, so we got to this point through a bunch of other tests. This engine will run right now as I had thought the problem was dirt, I changed all the filters and thought I had fixed the problem. Checked the injectors all spray nicely, put them in and when I loosen them only one affects motor speed, telling us that we are running on one cylinder. Changed the good injector to another cylinder and still the number one is the only one running. We hope it is the valves and not the rings as Anthony Barone found. Jack Osborne, A little up the coast and I might have just done as Larry suggested, sail her into San Diego. Would have been a better story. But I impressed my wife with my problem solving skills by sailing us out of damaging our new paint job. Having flown her whole life she knows how to look for a plan b and that wasn't in her idea box, but for me Mucho Gusto sails like a dingy and it is fun sailing her around a marina. Now waiting for parts and see what happens.

False start. We left the dock, Anne wanted to drive as she is getting more confident handling the boat. Well we start down the fairway and engine dies. Restart and it dies again. Can't start it. I call the harbor and tell them we need a tow then go forward to raise the staysail which is ready on deck for the ride north.
We sail around the harbor waiting for the tow boat, then get put back in a slip. We decide to get a mechanic to take a look at it. Anne saves the day again as he doesn't really speak much english. We are getting a few things fixed in the engine that might help overall performance and maybe we will be faster going home.
I was pretty happy with all we had in parts, as I was able to rebuild the toilet, fix all electrical problems, rigging issues, change all the filters and now I had new injectors to put in the engine, the mechanic was really amazed.
Let's see how this goes tomorrow.

Cruising: Working on your boat in exotic ports.
Anne and Ungaro sitting at the Container restaurant in the marina. Art all over the place and the gardening is really nice.
Ungaro the flying cat
Working on the boat is pretty nice in this exotic port.
Another whale show
Forgot to mention, another flying whale show as we arrived in Los Cabos. Must be a seasonal show. I understand they will be bringing it to Monterey Bay this summer, we plan on attending.

Heading for Cabo.
Heading for Cabo.
Isla Isabela
At anchor Isla Isabela. Two TV specials were done here, Jacque Costeau and National Geographic.
Whales and Dolphins yesterday going out to Tres Marietas, looks like a fun spot to dive and snorkel. Amazing fish below the boat right now, will have to snorkel around the boat. This is a must for bird watchers.
